This Lullaby

This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
Henesse Molina
Girls are the object of boys' attention from the time they begin to feel the turbulence of puberty, till forever. Oh so it seems in This Lullaby, a love story, about a teenage girl named Remy. Opening line Remy says “The name of the song isThis Lullaby’.  At this point, I’ve probably heard it, oh, about a million times.  Approximately.”  With this statement we learn “this lullaby” is not just any song, but an essential to her Past, Present, and Future.  The song was written and dedicated to her as retrospect from her father, a man she never got the chance to know. It was” like any other day” in the first week of June, senor graduation had ended, and that meant planning her mother`s fifth wedding had just begun. Remy seems to believe that her mother’s need to be married is about obtaining an accessory. Her scrutiny, and the abandonment by her father, frames her immense distrust and lack of affection.  But why does she seem to adhere to Dexter? What makes him special enough to stick around?  She ended her previous relationship to have no “other entanglements than absolutely necessary” when going off to Stanford.
Is she changing the rules?
